Fun in the Sun...and the Shade

We spent a while in Grammy and Grampy's backyard over the holiday weekend. They set up a little pool that Sam and Owen played in...

Sam is a huge fan of the water, Owen is not a huge fan of Sam being a huge fan of the water :)

We had to send them (well...Sam) to their (i.e. his) corner a few times in order to keep Owen sane.

Here's a little video...

We also hung out in the shade and took some cute pics of him playing in the grass...

Wednesday Music, Volume ??

Lost now on the country miles in his cadillac.
I can tell by the way you smile he is rolling back.
Come wash the nighttime clean, come grow the scorched ground green.
Blow the horn, tap the tambourine.
Close the gap on the dark years in between.
You and me, cassidy.

Memorial Day

We went to a parade to celebrate Memorial Day today. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather to be out for a walk in the morning.

Mom takes great pics...

The parade was a little one, but it had fire trucks and a lot of old cars...huge hits for little boys!

Gardening With Mom

Sam and Abi spent part of the day planting flowers in the yard today. They both seemed to enjoy the perfect day...

Afterwards, we went on a very short bike ride :)

A Little Grilling

The boys did a little grilling tonight to start the holiday weekend...

Droolly Droolly

We think that Sam is getting some more teeth in...he's been a slobbery guy lately. Doesn't take away from anything though :)

On the move

Without naming names, someone has just discovered that it's useful (and not so hard) to be mobile...here comes trouble!

Walking the boards

Ab, Sam and Gram took a walk on the boardwalk today. Looks like it was a pretty neat day...

...and Sam shared a lemon ice with his gram!

Back To Music Class

Only two things in the world I love,
That's rock 'n' roll and my turtle dove.
When I was a young man I needed good luck,
But I'm a little bit older now and I know my stuff.

Go Sox!

Jon Lester threw a no-hitter in a 7-0 win over the Kansas City Royals tonight...and he did it in Fenway no less! For those of you who are interested in stats, this was the 18th no-hitter in Red Sox history. The more important (and more fun) stats right now are that the Yankees are 6.5 back and still in last place in the AL East...oh, and even with this loss, the Royals still have a better record than the Yankees :)

An evening at the beach

It was a beautiful night tonight so we took Sam to the beach.

If you can get beyond his nutty hair you can see that he loved playing in the sand...turns out that it's pretty sticky on a baby's hands!

Trip to the park

Sam and his mom and grandmother went to the park today, and he got to swing

Think he likes it?

Some vids...

Harold's New York Deli

We went to a restaurant today called Harold's Famous New York Deli in Edison with some friends of ours. The place serves mounds and mounds of food like nothing I've ever seen. I ordered a turkey sandwich that comes with extra bread - I had three real life sandwiches, I gave one to Kev, I have two more for lunch tomorrow and another for lunch on Tuesday...that's SEVEN sandwiches out of "one."

Sam thought a piece of cake would do the trick...little did he know it would be six layers and as tall as him!

Eating Disaster

I never thought I was one to have a stomach for kids and their food, but I've been forced to toughen up!

Argh!

ewwwww!

Playing With Toys

Sam found a toybox and went to town today :)

Less Sicko

Sam's starting to feel better. Here's a few pics from playing around tonight...

This is a very "Sam" face

...as is this. You can see his two teeth in this one though!

Hey, what a great shirt :) Notice the path of destruction behind him!

Sicko

Sam is under the weather. He has Coxsackie virus and is feeling crappy...especially at night. Nonetheless, we are trying to have some fun with him :)

Obama

So Grammy Bonnie told us about a MoveOn competition for Barack Obama ads. A few of them were very good, including this one with kids on the playground...

...and this Obamacan

Happy Mother's Day

Sam and his mom spent a nice afternoon snuggling and relaxing today. While he can't yet say it, he knows he has a great mom...and I happen to agree :) Because he also can't toast a glass just yet, he decided it would be better to raise a shovel to his mom and smile "Happy Mother's Day!"

John McCain

We had the opportunity to go meet John McCain today...while Obama's our guy, it was a fun and interesting experience. Sam got decked out in a jacket and tie for the occasion and handled himself as classy as he looked :)

Here are a few pics from the occasion...

In his whale tie...

Dressed up like dad...

Hanging with mom and a bottle...

Oh yeah...and a little John McCain...

More Music

Life may be sweeter, for this I don't know
Feels like it might be alright

New Jersey Marathon

We went to cheer on the runners at the New Jersey Marathon today...a tradition since Jaffar came down to run it a few years ago (flashback pics below, of course). Anyway, Sam held court at an outdoor breakfast place as the runners passed by...

After the race, we got inspired and went to buy new running shoes...and Sam pretended to be Mario Andretti in the parking lot - complete with crazy blowing hair!

As promised, here are the flashback pics of Jaff's race...legend has it that he had to pull out of Chicago two weeks later because of a stress fracture :)

"C" is for Cookie

Sam's bottom two teeth are visible (and hurt!) now so we're trying to give him some food to chew on...no steak or anything yet - Abi won't let me try for some reason. We did buy him some teething cookies, which, as you will see, he loves!

Riding...not quite into the sunset

Our little jockey went for a ride today

Messier and messier

Sam decided he wanted to eat by himself...

..and he kept getting messier...

...and messier..

...and messier...

..and messier!

Watch here :)
