Sam's First Halloween :)
This is our son Sam's website. We thought it would be a great way to keep in touch with far flung family and friends and let everyone watch him grow.

Sox Win!!!
The Sox won the Series tonight! Sam slept through the game but it was still very special to hold him in my arms and count down the pitches as Pabelbon struck out Seth Smith to win. I can't wait until I can tell him about it :)
Here's the AP Photo of Pabelbon just after throwing his strikout pitch to take the Series.

Doctor Visit #2
Sam went to the doctor yesterday. The last time we went he was 7 lbs, 3 oz. and the doctor said that he should gain about an ounce a day...Yesterday, a week later, he was 8 lbs!

Sam's First Stroll
Last night was our first night home from the hospital and it was an adventure! We were dragging ourselves around today, though we managed to get out and take a walk around the neighborhood in this summer weather we're having...a good sign that Abi is recovering well.
On another note, the Sox swept the Angels yesterday. That means that Sam has his first lucky Red Sox hat whether he likes it or not :)

Heading Home
Today was a big day for all of us...Sam and Abi came home! The doctors were pleased with Abi's progress and the nurses apparently voted her best new mom on the floor. They also referred to Sam as the prince of the nursery. We were really impressed by all the staff and everyone seemed sad to see us go. They probably make everyone feel the same way, but they made us believe it, which was the important thing.
Until today, I don't think we've seen Sam's hands anywhere but near his face since he's been born. When we brought him downstairs and put him in his car seat he suddenly became very serious and sat there with his arms next to him and his legs straight out...it was a very funny moment!
When we got home Sam went right to sleep, but he was dressed and ready for the Red Sox game today...Go Sox!!
We put him in his Moses Basket to rest...it's not very big, but it looks supersized when he's in it. Definitely some room to grow!

Picture Day
Today was Sam's picture day at the hospital. We had to dress him in his first non-hospital outfit...who knew it took two grown people to get a 7-pound baby into overalls and a sweater!
When we finally did manage to get him dressed, he calmed down enough for us to get a few really nice pictures.
Abi thought this outfit would be too big for him...he's a peanut though.
Later in the day my niece Maria held him as he napped...she's a natural!
He seems to like sleeping with his hands up by his face :)

Sam Has Arrived!!
Sam was born today at 7:49 a.m.! He weighed in at 7.7 lbs and he's 19 inches long. He and Abi are in perfect health. They've each tested very well in all the tests the doctors have run them through today. It's been a very exciting, very surreal day for us.
Here he is...about 30 seconds old with a smiling doctor!
This is one of the first times he opened his eyes, before he had his first bath.
...and here with mom after his bath. They combed his hair...handsome already :)
...and here we all are...the first pic of the three of us as a family
..and the two men of the family together.
There will definitely be more to come in the next few days...stay tuned!
